The Subcommittee for Liturgical Music operating within the Liturgical Commission of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) met at the Holy Trinity Monastery in Krakow for its autumn session. The task of the subcommittee is to take care of the publication of books, promotion and formation in the field of liturgical music of the brothers and sisters of the Order.
It consists of: a nun from the French monastery of Langeac, Sr. Marie Trainar, a Dominican nun from the Congregation of Notre Dame de Grâce (Chatillon) living in Oslo, Sr. Ragnhild Bjelland, a Dominican friar from the province of Teutony, Fr Thomas Möller, and the president of our Foundation, Fr. Łukasz Miśko, as well as Fr. Dominik Jurczak, chairman of the Liturgical Commission, who also joined the meeting.
Subcommittee meetings are held twice a year. Currently, its members are working on several publishing projects, e.g. developing a songbook in the three official languages of the Order (French, Spanish and English) for international meetings of brothers and sisters, and looking for ways to implement the guidelines of the General Chapter in Tultenango (Mexico) of July 2022, to create materials to help introduce brothers and sisters in initial formation into tradition of Dominican liturgical singing.
As part of the visit to Krakow, members of the subcommittee got acquainted with the activities of our Foundation, whose office and shop they visited.
